Comparitive Analysis of CD Transfer Products
Time in Seconds to transfer 4:40 of audio - shorter is better
NOTES:
+1 With Toast Audio Extractor, The first bar is time using 'Fast Mode',
the second section is time using 'Overlap safe' mode.
+2 - Time until SoundEdit window opens showing waveform. This does not reflect
the extra time which would be taken to save the file into SDII format
+3 - MoviePlayer uses the Quicktime Extension to import Audio. The same
technology is used in a number of other applications which will perform
similarly.
+4 - Time until Peak window opens showing waveform. This includes some time
to calculate the overview, but does not reflect the extra time which would
be taken to save the file into SDII format
+5 - Some Apple Computers have IDE or ATAPI CDRom drives rather than the normal SCSI variety. Examples are Powerbook 1400 and other powerbooks, PowerMac 4400 and other low-end modern macs. We were not able to test some products in this scenario (N/A)
All Tests Performed on Apple PowerMac 8500/180 with Apple CD 1200 CDRom drive and built in Apple 2Gb HD, using default settings. All information was gathered using whatever versions were readily available. Our apologies if any errors have been made in compiling this comparison. Please let us know if any of this information is incorrect.
